The Quad East Bay Clubs: May 19, 2025
Dear Member,
So many new members to welcome to the Club and our newsletter—happy you’re here!
![]() |
We are now one week out from Memorial Day weekend, which marks the official kick-off to summer. We’re still buzzing after this weekend’s Summer Ready Days at the clubs and wanted to share a few reminders.
Summer Safety Matters
While fun is our top priority, safety is just as important. As we head into our busiest season, let’s keep the following details in mind to help make it the best—and safest—season yet.
Our Lifeguards
During the summer season, standard lifeguard hours across the clubs are 9:00 am–7:00 pm daily. In preparation, we have been (and will continue) doing live lifeguard drills out on the pool deck. We encourage member participation!
Swim Safety Test
Members and guests 13 and younger must pass a swim safety test to be allowed to swim on their own. Here’s the lowdown:
Step 1: Parent or guardian stands poolside.
Step 2: Kiddo will be asked to swim 25 yards (any stroke) without goggles and exit the pool unassisted. Not too bad.
Step 3: Next, they’ll be asked to jump into the pool, fully submerge themselves, resurface, tread water for 1 minute with ears out of the water and face forward, then exit the pool unassisted. Most kids find this is quite fun!
Step 4: The prize: They’ll receive a water safety wristband, which means they are free to swim at their leisure without parent supervision.
If your kiddo is not yet swim-ready or cannot complete the test, they must always be accompanied by a guardian in the pool within an arm’s reach.
Pool Breaks
On busy weekends from 12:00 pm–5:00 pm, lifeguards will administer regular pool breaks. You’ll hear a long whistle blow at the top of the hour. All members 13 and under will be asked to clear the pool for about 10 minutes.
Why? We need to check the pool for any accidents and clear out any debris.
These 10-minute breaks are a perfect time to use the restroom, re-apply sunscreen (did you know we have Sun Bum poolside?) or hydrate.
Thank you for helping to keep the clubs safe this season.
Let’s make this a summer to remember…
In health,
Tracy L Cioffi

Summer Readiness—Safety and Security
As we make our way into our summer season and see the community engage with our clubs in new and exciting ways, we’d like to take a moment to reiterate the importance of our safety, security, and gate control protocols. Recently, we were made aware of an isolated theft incident in one of our Club parking lots, as well as a few attempts to access clubs using fictitious information. While these occurrences are uncommon, they underscore the importance of our safety, security, and gate control procedures. We encourage all members to promptly bring any unusual or concerning behavior to the attention of our Club staff, so that we can continue to foster the environment that this community values.
