The Quad East Bay Clubs: January 20, 2025

Dear Member,

New Year, New You. Right? Not exactly. New Year, SAME YOU—unless you’re truly wanting to shake things up.

And if you are, you’ve come to the right place: the Club and this newsletter. For those of you new to either, welcome to our community.

Monthly Mentions

As we head into the new year, many folks ask, “How do I start a new wellness routine?” With so much information out there, it can feel overwhelming. First, take a deep breath and remember—it’s not a race. Take your time. Build your foundation. Use the first few months of the year to plan.

Warren Buffett always says crouch before you leap. Picture a professional swimmer: they don’t run onto the platform and jump. They prepare. They get into position, visualize the outcome, and then dive. Let the first few months of the year be your time to prepare—to crouch before you leap.

We are all unique, so starting a wellness routine should begin with understanding YOUR body. I have tried everything, and my favorite tools are Everlywell and Function Health (note: we are not directly affiliated with either). These tools will help you set a baseline for your new journey.

Let’s start with Everlywell’s food sensitivity test. It’s an easy, at-home blood test that will show you what causes inflammation in your body. Inflammation causes 70% of disease. What you eat can also cause headaches, bloating, skin irritations, and more. Invest in the test. I do one every other year and eliminate anything that shows as High or Moderate Reactivity. We do have a Perk running with Everlywell right now so don’t forget to grab the discount. Learn more about the test here and use code EVERLYBAY at checkout for 20% off.*

Next up: Function Health. This is Dr. Mark Hyman’s new company, and I am obsessed. Once you sign up, head to your nearest lab for two blood draws. You will then receive a detailed report which tracks over 100 biomarkers AND you get a personalized write-up from a doctor. This one I will do every year. One of the most popular features is that it tracks your biological age. Mine shows 18.3 years younger than my actual age—proof I’m doing something right! Learn more here.

Once you’ve got this information, you’ll have your starting point. Next, I suggest you build out your new habits for 2025. As you know, habit building is a science—and it will be the focus of the next Quad!
