Your Weekly Portland Club Update: May 17, 2022


Dear Member,

The month of May is far from over, and there is still much more to come at the Club. Memorial Day is around the corner, which means barbecues and fun at the pool. And with swimming season coming up, make sure to enroll your family in some swimming lessons! Stop by and see what’s new—and don’t forget to enroll the kids in Bay Club summer camp before we’re full. Spots are filling up quickly, so enroll soon! We can’t wait to spend Memorial Day Weekend with you and your family to kick off another amazing summer at the Bay Club.

Family Fun Friday: Extinct
Friday, May 20 | 5:00 pm–8:00 pm
Head on up to the restaurant for a dinner buffet and a family-friendly movie, Extinct! The movie starts at 5:30 pm. The buffet is $15 for adults and $10 for children. Our regular menu items will also be available.

Belly Dancing is Here to Stay!
Thursdays | 5:45 pm–6:35 pm
We are excited to announce that the Belly Dancing Class will be making a permanent home on Thursday evenings. This Thursday, May 19, we will be having a guest instructor, Anna Verholansteva!

Auto-Play Functional Threshold Power Classes
Mondays at 4:30 pm, Wednesdays at 12:00 pm, and Saturdays at 11:30 am
Take the 20-minute test to measure your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) and find your highest average watts sustainable per hour. Once you receive your results, create a Stages Cloud account using the QR code on the poster outside the Excel Studio to enter your newly-found FTP into your settings. Once you have an account, you can join any class, book your bike, and ride in your personal training zones, allowing you to train like the athlete you are.

Complimentary Injury Assessments
Walton Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine offers all members complimentary injury assessments. Feel free to stop by or contact the clinic at (503) 639-2118 to schedule a visit.

Sports Medicine Nights
1st and 3rd Mondays | 5:30 pm
Walton Physical Therapy is also resuming the Sports Medicine Nights in June. This takes place on the first and third Mondays of every month. Various physicians from the community accompanied by a Walton physical therapist are available for any questions/concerns regarding a recent injury or nagging condition you’d like assessed. Please call the clinic to find out which physician will be present and their specialty as well as schedule an appointment. Space is limited.

Summer Fun & Fit ELEVATE Session
Warmer days and sunshine are here; want to stay active and maintain a healthy diet? Summer Fun & Fit is the latest edition of our signature 8-week program featuring 32 workouts that include weekly one-on-one nutrition consultations along with regular progress check-ins. ELEVATE focuses on all the key components for building and maintaining a strong immune system. Get started on your fitness and nutrition journey to ELEVATE your health this summer. Belay Certification Class
Sundays | 2:00 pm-4:00 pm | $40 for members | Ascent Climbing Center
This class is the first step to reaching the highest heights in the Ascent Climbing Center. Whether you want to learn a skill that you can share with your children or add an extra dimension to your workouts through climbing, this is the class for you. The class is two hours and includes the equipment you need to go safely to the top. No experience is necessary. Hip Hop HIITs Fundraiser Event
Saturday, June 4 | 3:00 pm-5:00 pm
Come and celebrate dance with us on the Basketball Courts—for a good cause! Funds raised will benefit the Healthy Oregon Project (HOP), a no-cost research study that combines genetic cancer screening with lifestyle and environment surveys taken on your smartphone. The goals of HOP are to provide people with feedback about their personal cancer risk and to provide scientists with data to advance early detection and treatment research. Feel free to bring a friend to this event. Trigger Ball Therapy with Aksana
Starting Sunday, June 5 | 1:00 pm
Recover, repair, and restore by using combinations of penetrating self-guided myofascial release techniques, range-of-motion stretches and revitalizing breath strategies. We will be using a variety of grippy pliable rubber balls to eradicate your aches and pains and reform your body from the inside out.
