The Quad Portland Club: September 23, 2024
Dear Member,
Welcome to The Quad, your bi-monthly Club newsletter that covers all things happening at the Bay Club, plus a little extra. Loving it? Not loving it? Hit reply and let us know.
Fall is officially here—the kiddos are back in school, traffic has returned, and pumpkin spice everything is in full swing. Speaking of fall essentials, let’s talk boots…
Recovery Boots
I hope you’ve had a chance to visit one of our wildly popular Recovery Centers. If not, you’re in for a treat! We’ve been busy opening new locations—shoutout to our latest in Redwood Shores and Bellevue—where you can experience this wellness amenity. One standout feature I want to highlight is the Normatec Boots, which have been a go-to for professional athletes for years and are now available to everyone. These boots help increase circulation, reduce muscle soreness, decrease inflammation, speed up recovery time, and provide overall relaxation. What’s not to love?
And don’t worry—our staff is always available to help you understand how to use Recovery equipment and get the most out of your experience. The best part? We don’t charge extra for this awesomeness—it’s all part of your membership. Click here to read more.
Give it the Boot!
This fall, the best thing to kick out of your daily routine is… drum roll… added sugar! This includes any sugars or syrups added during the processing or packaging of foods—meaning they are not naturally occurring. Examples include sugar, sucrose, maltose, molasses, agave nectar, fructose, corn syrup, evaporated cane syrup, and the list goes on.
Why does it matter? Consuming too many added sugars can contribute to major health problems such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Cutting out added sugar lowers your risk of these diseases and can also improve sleep, oral health, and prevent energy crashes.
To help give sugar the boot, check the nutrition label for added sugars listed under ‘Total Sugar’. I avoid anything with added sugar. Naturally occurring sugars, like those found in fruit, are fine, but I still keep an eye on my intake for maximum health benefits.
Yee-Haw
Have you heard? Cowboy boots are a hot trend for fall. Embracing the Western spirit, these timeless staples can add a touch of style to any wardrobe. This year, the spotlight is on ankle-high boots that pair perfectly with closet classics. Grab a pair and put a little giddy-up in your step.
