The Quad Santa Clara Club: September 09, 2024
Dear Member,
Welcome to The Quad, your bi-monthly Club newsletter that covers all things happening at the Bay Club, plus a little extra. Loving it? Not loving it? Hit reply and let us know.
The first day of fall is almost here. As we transition into this new season, take a moment to appreciate the beautiful memories of summer as we move forward gracefully into the next.
Fall Cleanse
I love starting a new season with a detox. We’re exposed to so many toxins each day and it’s easy to find ourselves on autopilot, not paying attention to what we’re putting into our bodies. A detox is a simple way to reset, and it doesn’t have to be extreme. I’ve used the same detox program year after year and always see benefits. I eliminate dairy, gluten, alcohol, added sugar, and soy. Yes, this means reading labels carefully and asking questions at coffee shops (many alternative milks contain added sugar). Did you know that an estimated 70-80% of grocery items have added sugar? Yikes!
After 30 days of a detox, check in and see how you feel. You might notice you have more energy. Your skin might look brighter. You may have better mental clarity. Keep a journal to track your observations and see what you learn.
Fall for Five
There’s been lots of news lately on processed and ultra-processed foods. A good rule of thumb when grocery shopping is to look for things with 5-ish ingredients or less. And, you should know how to pronounce those ingredients! It’s a fun game in the store.
One of my new favorites is Truvani organic protein powder. It’s the only one I’ve found with just six ingredients and without dairy, gluten, gums, emulsifiers, or other unnatural additives. Many people think they are being healthy by making a smoothie, but in fact, they’re often loading up on a lot of unidentifiable “stuff”. Truvani is all-natural…and a bit pricy. But as they say, you get what you pay for. I always load up whenever it’s on sale.
Fall Recovery
Hopefully by now you’ve tried out one of our many, hugely popular Recovery Centers. If you haven’t, please do! From Hydromassage Chairs to Normatec Boots, they feature all the latest in wellness tech. And don’t worry–our staff members are there to ensure you know how to use the equipment. Best of all, we don’t charge extra for this awesome amenity, it’s included as part of your membership.
