Your Weekly Los Angeles Update: April 10, 2023
Dear Member,
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Quad, your Club newsletter that covers all things happening at the Bay Club, plus a little extra. Loving it? Not loving it? Hit reply and let us know.
A few folks have asked about the name of “The Quad”, and in true Bay Club fashion, we are happy to share all of the behind-the-scenes details.
We were looking for a newsletter name that represented our business and our community. We often say our business is made up of four quadrants…fitness, sports, family, and hospitality, so The Quad fit the bill from that standpoint.
But our business and superpower are truly centered around community. If you think back to your high school or university days, where did you often gather? The quad. It’s where people came together–to work, to hang out, to have fun.
We see ourselves as that gathering place, and we love being your spot to come together and simply be you. Welcome to The Quad.

Be sure to plan ahead! Our camps fill up quickly, so register here to ensure a carefree summer for both parents and campers alike.
Perks Are a Perkin’
Perhaps our sweetest perk thus far…have you ordered your Drops of Dough yet? They are the perfect treat to give or get! Founded by a long-time Bay Club Member, Drops of Dough makes the best quality frozen cookie dough and ice cream sandwiches, using only premium ingredients. And the best part? 5% of sales are donated to Pediatric Cancer Research.
Everything is proudly made and shipped from San Mateo, California. While we love all the flavors, chocolate chip is our favorite. For the busy parent out there, having a good frozen cookie dough in the freezer is a great option for a last-minute treat.
Drops of Dough is also our Official Sweet Treat of the Summer, so you will see them at our Summer Parties and Summer Camps. Sweeeeeet! Enjoy 20% off your online purchase this month with code BAYCLUB20.
Spotlight
Our team is growing, and we love to share the news. As we strive to continually improve our experience and deliver for our Community, we have invested in a new level of our Operations Team, led by Jennifer Steichen.
Jennifer joined us six months ago as our new Chief Operating Officer. She has over 25 years of leadership experience at the Gap Inc, and she most recently served as Vice President of Stores and Operations at Athleta, overseeing 225 locations.
Jennifer brings the knowledge and the know-how with the perfect pairing of polish and grit. She has loved her onboarding and getting to know each club and our Community members, and she has since onboarded a powerful team of retail leaders to help drive our experience. Welcome aboard, team!

Things We’re Loving
We are always looking for great snacks with clean ingredients to share with our Community. Today’s feature is all about meat sticks (wish there was a better way to say it). We will only talk to those that are all stick and no ick. You must read the ingredients on these snacks to ensure you are putting only the best in your bod. Gone are the days of Slim Jims!
Our #1 fave is Thrive Market’s Grass-Fed Beef Sticks. 100% grass-fed beef, no total sugars, no nitrates, no antibiotics, no preservatives…And the best part, they’re super tasty!
A very close second are Chomps’ Free Range Turkey Sticks. All the same no’s! So easy to pack in your kid’s bag for sports practice or in your purse for travel. They are a protein-rich go to!
A Little T.L.C.
There is so much information out there regarding our health and wellness. We will always try to take one topic and make it a bit more understandable. Today’s feature is the 12/3/30 Incline Walking Workout.
The concept of this workout is simple: You hop on a treadmill, set the incline to 12, and walk at 3 miles per hour for 30 minutes. Don’t mistake simplicity for ease; this workout packs a punch! It’s an effective aerobic routine that gets your heart rate up and builds strength and endurance. It might take a few tries to build up to the full workout, but it’s a great goal as we wake up our Spring bodies from Winter hibernation.
Trainer tip: Make sure your shoulders are back, your core is engaged, and that you’re not arching your back. If at any point you feel a strain in your lower back, give it a rest. Happy walking!
