Your Weekly Los Angeles Clubs Update: June 19, 2023

Dear Member,

Monthly Mentions

Safety Matters – we know it’s not if, it’s when. We take your safety at the Clubs very seriously and have taken on many projects to ensure we are providing the safest environment possible. One of these projects is centered around AEDs, or automated external defibrillators. To share some stats from the American Red Cross, sudden cardiac arrest is among the leading causes of death in the United States. In fact, more than 350,000 people will suffer cardiac arrest this year.

Currently, the only way to restore a regular heart rhythm during cardiac arrest is to use an AED. The average response time for first responders is 8-12 minutes, and for each minute defibrillation is delayed, the odds of survival are reduced by approximately 10%. Having access to AEDs and knowing how to use them is critical.

So, what are we doing?

Well, we are making improvements to shorten response times by doubling down on both equipment and improved signage. We are spending over $500,000 on AEDs, increasing our units from 93 to 146. Additionally, we have ensured the AED locations are well placed and clearly marked. And as always, 100% of employees are CPR + AED certified.

Fun Find: Do you know where the AEDs are in your Club? On your next visit, make it a point to find them. Consider it a heart healthy scavenger hunt. Our crew is happy to help!

Real Question: If we offered CPR + AED Certification classes, would you be interested? Let us know!
